The Island has belonged to both Norway and Denmark at different times, often with a lot of conflict as to whp truly had the right of control over the Islands.

A lot of excitement tends to be witnessed on July 29th which is both the national holiday as well as the feast of Saint Olaf. The holidays and the colorful festivities start on the 28th of July and continues up till the 31st of the same month.

The symphony orchestras in different locations of the Island are quite popular as the musicians of the Faroe Islands are quite renowned. July is also the time most of the festivals and concerts tend to take place. These festivals include the famous G! Festival in July and another one in August of the same year. The wonderful music is reason enough to visit the Faroe Islands during this season.
